Storage
Brussels sprouts keep 7 to 10 days in the fridge, unwashed. Only remove the outer leaves when preparing them. They freeze very well after 3 minutes of blanching. On the stalk, they keep even longer, up to 2 weeks.
Origin
Brussels sprouts were developed around Brussels in the 13th century, hence their name. They spread to France and England in the 19th century. Belgian migrants popularised them in the United States. Today, the Netherlands and Belgium remain the largest European producers.
